Salah Reminder ("we," "us," or "our") is a Slack application designed to help you manage prayer schedules and reminders. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our platform.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Salah Reminder Slack application. By installing and using Salah Reminder, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
Key Principle: We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide our service. We never access your message history, contact lists, or any other sensitive workspace data.
What Data We Collect
When you install Salah Reminder, we collect the following information to operate the service:
Workspace Installation Token
An encrypted token provided by Slack that allows us to post messages to your chosen channel. This token is stored securely and encrypted at rest.
Workspace ID & Channel ID
We store which Slack workspace installed the app and which channel you selected for receiving prayer schedules and reminders.
Prayer Settings
Your selected city, timezone, calculation method (e.g., ISNA, Muslim World League), and reminder preferences (which prayers to remind you about).
Contact Information
If you reach out for support, we may collect your email address and any messages you send us for customer support purposes only.
What we do NOT collect: We never access your Slack message history, contact lists, member profiles, or any other workspace data beyond what's necessary to deliver prayer schedules and reminders to your chosen channel.
How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect solely for the following purposes:
- Providing the service: To calculate accurate prayer times based on your location and post schedules to your Slack channel.
- Sending reminders: To deliver prayer reminders to your channel at the correct times according to your preferences.
- Service improvement: To understand how the app is used and make improvements (we analyze usage patterns, not content).
- Customer support: To respond to your inquiries and resolve issues.
- Security: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and other harmful activities.
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or any purpose other than those listed above.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption: Installation tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
- Secure transmission: All data transmitted between your Slack workspace and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Access controls: Access to stored data is restricted to authorized personnel only, and we maintain audit logs of all access.
- Regular audits: We conduct regular security audits and penetration testing to identify and address vulnerabilities.
- Minimal permissions: Salah Reminder requests only the minimum Slack permissions required to function.
Note: While we implement strong security measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use Slack's built-in security features, such as two-factor authentication, to protect your workspace.
Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the service:
- Active installations: Configuration data is retained while your workspace has the app installed.
- After uninstallation: We delete all associated data (tokens, configuration, settings) within 30 days of app removal from your workspace.
- Support communications: Emails and support messages are retained for 1 year to maintain support history.
- Legal obligations: We may retain data longer if required by law or to comply with legal obligations.
You can request deletion of your data at any time by uninstalling the app and contacting us at support@katchleads.com.
Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction: You can request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to deletion: You can request that we delete your data (subject to legal obligations).
- Right to data portability: You can request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Right to withdraw consent: You can withdraw consent to data processing by uninstalling the app.

Third-Party Services
Salah Reminder integrates with Slack and may use third-party services for:
- Prayer time calculations: We use the Aladhan API or similar services to calculate prayer times based on geographic location.
- Cloud infrastructure: Our application is hosted on secure cloud servers (Vercel/AWS).
- Error monitoring: We may use services like Sentry for tracking errors and improving reliability.
These third-party services have their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them, though they do not have access to your Slack tokens or sensitive configuration data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of Salah Reminder after any changes constitute your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
